Growing North Minneapolis
OUR MISSION
Growing North Minneapolis is a community-driven collaboration with the University of Minnesota, which focuses on youth and their communities. Through intergenerational mentorship and urban agriculture, we advance environmental, social and racial justice in North Minneapolis.
OUR PROGRAMS
NORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Community members work with an ecology teacher in the NSTEM Academy at North High School to bring agriculture, food and natural resources curriculum into the classroom.
SUMMER
STEP-UP youth work together with community mentors and University of Minnesota undergraduate students to care for Northside community gardens, distribute food throughout the community and sell to markets.
“North Minneapolis is going green. Give us a call, and learn what we mean. Where once lie urban blight now sits luscious garden sites. Gardens without borders, classrooms without walls, architects of our own destinies; access to food, justice for all."
